Dear Mr Barrett,
It was nice talking to you last week during the SBC conference at HEC. We talked about the organic vegetable-processing plant (légumerie) that recently opened in Les Mureaux, west of Paris. I had already discussed this topic with Jean-Michel Noël during the Agence Bio seminar that took place at the Agriculture show earlier this year. He told me that he was going to meet soon with Nathalie Zanato, head of sale of Fermes Bio, the local selling outfit of the organic produces made in Île de France.
After talking today with Nathalie Zanato I am pleased to inform you that after meeting with Mr Noël and his team, Fermes Bio is in advanced discussion with Sodexo group in order to be referenced as a supplier. She told me that discussions are also moving along with Sogeres to be referenced. As I told you I have a particular interest in the Sogeres contract because Sogeres manages the central kitchen unit of Rueil Malmaison where I live.
I would like to emphasize here the critical importance of the légumerie as a key component of the (fragile) organic producing eco-system in Île de France. As you know Île de France is mostly a highly intensive, mostly cereal-producing region. Organic fruit and vegetable producers have set-up in les Mureaux area last year and they rely strongly on the legumerie to sell their output. And we parents we need this plant in order for local organic produces to find their way into our children plates.
Contracting on a pluri-annual basis with BOTH Sogeres and Sodexo is therefore key to this development and I can’t emphasize enough the importance of the current referencing process your group is carrying out with Fermes Bio.
I have no doubt in Mr Noël’s commitment to make this happen. I would just like to draw your attention on this current process and be sure that we can count on your active support if need be.
Please be sure to keep me informed whenever you have reached an agreement with Fermes Bio so that I publish it on my blog. I would also be pleased to invite you in Rueil whenever Sogeres first introduces locally grown vegetables in the Rueil Malmaison cooking unit.
Looking forward to reading from you,
Best regards.
